Siemens Inaugurates New Service and Repair Center for Motors and Generators in Karachi
Siemens has inaugurated a new, larger service and repair center in Karachi for generators and motors, extending the range of services offered to cater for increasing customer demand in Pakistan.
The new center, housed at the Siemens Pakistan head office building in Karachi, employs around 30 people and provides facilities and technology for the overhaul, rewinding, emergency repair and testing of motors and generators of up to 10 megawatts (MW). The larger service center has enabled Siemens to accommodate more jobs simultaneously, introduce testing for low-voltage motors, install a complete machining facility and fit cranes with an increased weight capacity of 30 tons.
“Pakistan is an important market for Siemens and the country’s dynamic growth presents great opportunities, especially in the fields of infrastructure and energy,” said Helmut von Struve, MD of Siemens in Pakistan. “The inauguration of our new facility extends the range of services we offer, drives job creation and enhances our capability to efficiently address the needs of our customers, and Pakistan’s economic development.”
The inauguration event was attended by Rainer Schmiedchen, Consul-General of Germany in Pakistan, who highlighted the fact that diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Germany were established in 1950, with the two nations collaborating in the fields of culture, society, education and economic development.
Siemens has been a key provider of infrastructure solutions to Pakistan since 1947, implementing technology for power generation, transmission and distribution, industrial automation and solutions for innovative building management systems.
