In the keynote speech, Huawei announced major upcoming updates for HarmonyOS 2.0, EMUI 11, HMS (Huawei Mobile Services), HUAWEI HiLink, and HUAWEI Research. These improvements will empower global developers and ecosystem partners to provide enhanced and innovative user experiences for users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the event, Huawei also unveiled six new products that will contribute to Huawei\u2019s all-scenario experience \u2013 HUAWEI MateBook X, HUAWEI MateBook 14, HUAWEI WATCH GT 2 Pro, HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro, HUAWEI WATCH FIT and HUAWEI FreeLace Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the three days, Huawei will bring together\ndevelopers from around the world through various exciting activities, including\nLakeside Talks, Tech. Sessions, Tech. Hour, Codelabs and more. The itinerary\nwill provide opportunities for developers to network, collaborate, and explore\nways to bring smart all-scenario experiences to every user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cHuawei\u2019s\nbreakthrough in ecosystem development is a result of the strong support from\nglobal developers and partners. Huawei will fully open core technologies as\nwell as software and hardware capabilities to developers, collaborating with\nthem to drive further innovation of an all-scenario smart ecosystem,\u201d<\/em> said\nRichard Yu, Executive Director and CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group. <em>\u201cStars shine through even the darkest night.\nEach of our developers is a star. That\nwill light the way. \u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HarmonyOS\n2.0: Officially Open Source with Mobile HarmonyOS Beta Available to Developers\nby Year End<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huawei announced its all-scenario experience\noperating system, HarmonyOS, back in 2019. Since then, a robust line-up of\ndevices has been developed for the system, facilitating quick device discovery,\ninstant connection, hardware collaboration, and resource sharing between\nmultiple smart devices. HarmonyOS 2.0 is announced today, bringing a\ncomprehensive upgrade to its existing distributed capabilities, including\nsoftware bus, data management, and security. Huawei also introduced an adaptive\nUX framework that allows developers to quickly reach tens of millions of new\ndevices and users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the latest update, HarmonyOS will officially be\nopen-source and developers will be able to gain access to emulators, SDK\npackages, and IDE tools. The open source project, which is donated to Open Atom\nFoundation, will be launched in stages with a mobile HarmonyOS beta release\nplanned firstly for Chinese developers at the end of 2020. Richard Yu announced\nthe roadmap for HarmonyOS in his keynote speech<em>. \u201cStarting on 10 September, HarmonyOS is open to 128KB-128MB IoT\ndevices, such as smart TVs, wearables, cars and more. In April 2021, we will open\nit to 128MB-4GB devices and in October 2021, HarmonyOS will be opened for\ndevices above 4GB,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the distributed technology in HarmonyOS,\nthe newly released EMUI 11 enables interaction beyond smartphones. The new\noperating system allows devices interact with HarmonyOS-based IoT devices,\nbringing a unique all-scenario experience to users, including using the camera\nof a bigger-screen device for video calling. The process is powered by the\ntouchless connection between smartphones and HarmonyOS-based home devices,\nenabling screen projection and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Huawei\nMobile Services (HMS)<\/strong><strong> Ecosystem: Breaking Ground as The\nWorld\u2019s Third Largest Mobile App Ecosystem<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the support of more 1.8 million registered\ndevelopers worldwide, AppGallery and the HMS ecosystem has continued to show\nprogress this year. AppGallery currently has over 96,000 apps integrated with\nHMS Core and more than 490 million global active users. In addition, it also\nachieved a record 261 billion app downloads and distributions between January\nand August 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a single year, HMS Core 5.0\u2019s open capabilities\nhave increased from 14 Kits to 56 Kits, while the number of APIs has jumped\nfrom 885 to 12,981 covering seven major areas, helping developers achieve\ninnovation and simplify the development process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, the CG Kit in the Graphics field\nimproves graphics, image quality and experience, as well as improving game\nscreen rendering efficiency. Location kit in the App Services category meets\nthe positioning requirements, providing centimetre to millimetre accuracy\nlocation tracking depending on the scenario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huawei is committed to fully opening its core\nsoftware and hardware capabilities. It has opened up core software services,\nsuch as browsing, search, map, payment, advertising kits, to accelerate\ninnovation in app development. Huawei has also open up hardware capabilities\nsuch as its world-class camera capabilities, AR map capabilities, communication\nand transmission tools, as well as its leading privacy and security protection\ncapabilities. Through these, Huawei seeks to empower developers to create a new\ngeneration of well-loved innovative apps across different categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huawei also has extensive support to assist\ndevelopers explore business opportunities in China and other global markets, by\nproviding relevant consulting service, localization and integration, marketing\nand campaign services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going forward, Huawei continues to expand\ndeveloper services. Huawei is building three global ecosystem cooperation labs\nin Russia, Poland, and Germany to serve global developers and provide\nenablement, testing, and certification services. Five global developer service\ncentres will also be established in Romania, Malaysia, Egypt, Mexico, and\nRussia, providing local services and platforms to help developers better grow\nand innovate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HUAWEI HiLink: Enabling Billions of\nIoT Devices to Connect, Manage and Exchange<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As the standardised language of IoT Devices, HiLink\nbreaks down barriers between IoT devices from different brands and\nmanufacturers, providing a unified platform where devices can connect easily,\nand interact seamlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, upgrades to HUAWEI HiLink will be made in\nfive key areas: connection, interaction, operation, solution provider, and\nauthentication. The goal is to make billions of IoT devices connect easily,\nmore convenient to manage and control, and interact seamlessly to enable an\nall-scenario hardware ecosystem. At present, there are 50 million active users\ncontributing more than 1 billion all-scenario device interaction requests every\nday, with a cumulative 400 million downloads of the Smart Life App <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Automobile is also a key tenet of the IoT industry.\nThe HiCar platform will continue to empower automobile industry. HiCar is currently\ncollaborating with over 150 car models with more planned so that more car\nowners will enjoy the new smart travel experience in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huawei is committed to the growth of the IoT\nhardware ecosystem. By providing more devices with access to HiLink platform,\nit strives to make IoT development easier and more efficient, enabling Huawei\nto simultaneously support partners in establishing industry leadership in the\nIoT sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HUAWEI Research: The innovative\nresearch platform<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>HUAWEI Research, which focuses on front-end\nresearch, opens two key platform capabilities HUAWEI Research Kit and HUAWEI\nResearch Cloud. These capabilities facilitate efficient innovative research\nprocesses, accelerate technological breakthroughs, incubate apps innovations as\nwell as quickly achieve result transformation. As a result, scientific research\ninstitutions, innovation institutions, industry organisations, medical\ninstitutions and other industry partners are empowered, allowing industries\nfrom all sectors to prosper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Active Health Field, Huawei assisted in heart\nhealth research by ensuring that health research data collected is accurate and\ndiverse. In the Travel Safety Field, mobile and wearable devices intelligently\ncollaborate with automobiles to bring new safe-driving technologies such as the\ncollision avoidance system and driver fatigue care. In the Home Life Field,\nHuawei harness multi-device wireless sensing capabilities to provide features,\nsuch as fall detection, non-inductive breathing monitoring and spatial\npositioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huawei will continue to drive its software and\nhardware ecosystem moving forward.
