The National Highway & Motorway Police (NHMP) has\norganized a webinar today titled \u2018Digitalizing Pakistan\u2019s Motorways\u2019 featuring\nJazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim to highlight how digital solutions can help tackle daily\nchallenges including traffic congestion, road safety, longer commuting and\nconcerns about the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a growing population and rising traffic flow,\nPakistan\u2019s road network is under strain, which warrants urgent technological\nintervention for improvement. During the webinar case studies were also\ndiscussed from different parts of the world where the deployment\nof intelligent solutions for traffic management ensured better productivity\nof traditional infrastructure, more efficient traffic flow\nmanagement, reduced travel times, shorter wait times at intersections and\ncurbed vehicle emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Aamir Ibrahim, CEO, Jazz, \u201cTraffic\ncongestion can have a negative impact on economic growth and the quality of\npeople\u2019s lives. Even if we strengthen our road infrastructure, the\never-increasing level of traffic will surpass the capacity of our road network\nin busy city areas. The deployment of new\ncommunications technology backed by artificial intelligence (AI) may help to\nease clogged roads. We at Jazz have been using technology and digital tools to\naddress social and civic issues in Pakistan and are well positioned\nto work in collaboration with NHMP aimed at preparing traffic infrastructure\ntackle current and future challenges.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sharing his views, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam, IG, NHMP\nsaid, \u201cWe are grateful to Aamir Ibrahim for an insightful session that allowed\nus to explore new technologies to further improve traffic management. This interactive webinar allowed NHMP officials to\ngain valuable insights on the ways technology companies, especially digital\nservice providers like Jazz, can assist them in road traffic management and\nsafety. Jazz is already facilitating certain government processes including\ne-challan and digital payment system allowing the Islamabad Traffic Police to\nissue paperless challans which can be paid instantly via JazzCash. Application\nof digital payments, big data & analytics, Internet of Things and\nArtificial Intelligence (AI) for traffic management was also discussed in\nlength along with exploring avenues for deployment of ITMS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
