This initiative is part of the Bank\u2019s leading\ncommunity investment programme focused on Education, Goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs. Shehla\nRaza, Provincial Minister of Sindh for Women Empowerment was the chief guest at\nthe ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the Goal programme, \u2018Be Independent\u2019 module\nwas launched in 2018, a module that aims to provide practical experience and\nequip girls to be ready to generate their own incomes by obtaining a job or\ndeveloping their own micro-enterprise. Since its launch, over 800 young girls\nhave been empowered with vocational skills, employability skills and other\nessential knowledge to equip this group to become economic leaders in their\ncommunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of the 800, 40 girls were chosen based on their\npotential to receive vocational training on specific fields such as cooking,\nbaking, pastry making, learning English language, fashion designing, learning\nhow to use Microsoft Excel and Office, photography, to name a few After a year\nof hard work, 40 of these girls, whom the Bank calls Futuremakers, have\ncompleted vocational trainings and some have even earned gainful employment\nopportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, is the bank\u2019s global\ninitiative empowering the next generation to learn, earn and grow through our\nEducation, Employability and Entrepreneurship programmes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goal is Standard Chartered\u2019s leading Education programme\nthat falls within the Education pillar of the Bank\u2019s community investment\nstrategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the Bank\u2019s Goal programme, we aim to empower\nadolescent girls through a combination of sports and life skills training. The\nGoal curriculum is based on five training modules that provide with the confidence, knowledge and\nskills these girls need to be integral economic leaders in their families,\ncommunities and societies. In Pakistan, Goal has been running since 2016\nthrough its implementing partner, Right to Play, and has to date empowered over\n11,000 girls. In 2019, the programme was expanded to include public schools in\nIslamabad. As at February 2020, Goal is actively running in 34 schools in\nKarachi and Islamabad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a><strong>Commenting on the ceremony\nMr. Shazad Dada, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan <\/strong><\/a>said: \u201cI am very proud of\nthese girls who have graduated today through our Goal Employability module. There\nis&nbsp;massive hidden potential waiting to be unlocked for the youth,\nspecifically girls, across the country. We hope to provide them with the right\ntools and knowledge that will enable them make informed choices as they move\ninto adulthood, and to empower them to be more active economic participants in\ntheir communities. Through this\ninitiative, we hope that these girls become trailblazers for the future\ngenerations to become independent and contribute to the Pakistan economy\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goal\u2019s training\ncurriculum is based on five modules: \u2018Be Money Savvy\u2019 focuses on financial\neducation (how to save, invest and open a bank account); \u2018Be Yourself\u2019 imparts\neffective communication skills; \u2018Be Healthy\u2019 builds knowledge on health and\nhygiene; \u2018Be Empowered\u2019 teaches girls how to be confident, authentic and stand\nup for their rights; and \u2018Be Independent\u2019 focuses on providing vocational\ntraining to girls to enable them to be financially empowered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Standard Chartered Pakistan, in partnership with Right to Play, hosted a ceremony to recognise girls from underserved areas that have been trained to become future economic leaders in their communities.
