Products offering them relief are\nvery limited and as a nation, we are far behind in terms of proper healthcare\nmanagement for these individuals. The space to serve them is limited, but technology\ncan play a huge part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Realizing this need, Ayub Yaqoob\nEngineering Co (AyeCo), a startup that prides itself on being the first\nelectric wheelchair manufacturing company of Pakistan, recently presented an\nexcellent invention that grabbed the attention of many. The invention is a\nvoice-controlled wheelchair. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The brainchild of a LUMS graduate named Faaiz Arbab, a high-tech wheelchair named Gobee can be controlled through a smartphone application called \u2018Call N Go\u2019. It responds to the voice commands of the user, being able to turn left or right and move forward or backward. The invention is in line with AyeCo\u2019s vision to empower those whose mobility is restricted due to physical handicaps.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gobee is a testament to the great\nwork startups are doing to benefit various communities through their unique\nsolutions. Gobee is not your regular wheelchair, but an all-in-one machine that\nboasts features such as a Wi-Fi facility, LED lights, emergency stop button and\nthe drive power of up to 40km per hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, AyeCo participated in\nNEO TV\u2019s startup show \u2018Idea Croron Ka\u2019 to raise capital for expansion. The\ninvestors present on the show were blown away by this hi-tech innovation, which\nis bound to raise the profile of Pakistan\u2019s medical exports to the world. PTI leader Asad Umar, chief guest on the\nshow, was all praise for the startup, which he conveyed through a tweet<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Gobee\u2019s distinctive features and\nthe people behind this innovation inspired investor Aamir Ibrahim, who is also\nthe CEO of Jazz, and Naeem Zamindar, Founder, Zamindar Capital, to invest in\nAyeCO. Both investors decided to claim 10% equity each for an individual sum of\nPKR 6 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Armed with a combined investment\nof PKR 12 million, the startup will certainly materialize its vision of\nexpansion into reality. It is also\nencouraging to know that people like Aamir Ibrahim and Naeem Zamindar are going\nthe extra mile to boost the local startup ecosystem. Having onboard seasoned\nprofessionals like Aamir and Naeem, will act as a huge benefit for young\nstartups, who are generally inexperienced when it comes to financial projections\nand regulatory setbacks.
