Uber, the global ride-hailing giant connecting riders to\ndrivers, has announced the launch of UberPITCH 2019, a nationwide competition\naimed at enabling budding entrepreneurs. The contest gives tech startups a\nplatform to pitch their ideas to some of Pakistan\u2019s most prominent tech giants.\nThe announcement was made at a networking event attended by thought leaders and\nentrepreneurs committed to boosting tech innovation in Pakistan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UberPITCH contest, powered by Ignite in collaboration\nwith the National Incubation Centers (NICs), is aimed at giving young\nentrepreneurs an opportunity to be guided by experienced trainers. Eventually, the startups will have\ntheir ideas judged by investors and mentors during the course of the\ncompetition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yusuf\nHussain, CEO Ignite said, “We appreciate Uber’s efforts to boost\nentrepreneurship in Pakistan and make transport trustworthy, particularly for\nwomen.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To cultivate an environment that supports youth-led\nbusinesses, a platform like UberPITCH is pivotal in connecting young\nentrepreneurs with global experts. The entrepreneurial space in Pakistan is\ncurrently booming and, with the right kind of grooming and support, it has the\npotential to grow exponentially. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s incredible to see talented young entrepreneurs take\nthe reins of the future and work towards bringing their ideas to reality,\u201d said\nSaad Naveed Pall, Interim GM-Uber. \u201cWe need to recognize the challenges\nPakistan\u2019s digital ecosystem is currently facing and play our part in building\na startup culture that is sustainable and self-sufficient.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Registrations for this year\u2019s UberPITCH are now open.\nParticipants willing to take part need to complete an online application form\nbefore August 23, 2019.\nThe UberPITCH team will then evaluate all applications and announce selected startups from each city\nthat will go on to the first round called the Pitch camp. During this\nphase, trainers and mentors\nfrom the School of Leadership and Uber, respectively, will help the selected\nstartups practice and polish the\nart of delivering a business pitch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once the startups have graduated from the Pitch camp,\nthey will be given the opportunity to present their startup idea to a panel of\njudges in the Qualifier Round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the last round, the most successful startups from the\nqualifier round will get a chance to pitch their ideas to some of the biggest\ninvestors in the industry during the In-car Finale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The winning startup, in addition to being given a\nplatform to showcase their ideas and connect with the business community, will\nbe awarded a cash prize, be incubated at the local NIC, and get Uber credit\namong other things. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
