In Pakistan, Uber\ncelebrated its \u2018Global Service Week\u2019, where employees engaged in various\nvolunteer work across cities. Clad in black and white T-shirts emblazoned with\n\u2018Uber in the community\u2019, the volunteers, visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial\nHospital (SKMH), Patient\u2019s Aid Foundation (PAF), Fatima Memorial Hospital, and\nSOS village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At Shaukat Khanum\nMemorial Hospital (SKMH), the Uber team distributed toys amongst the child\npatients and spent time with them at the hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During this\nservice week, Uber Pakistan also aligned with a leading non-profit in Karachi,\nPatient\u2019s Aid Foundation (PAF) focusing on osteoporosis awareness. As part of\nthe activity, Uber employees came up with ideas to promote DEXA scan – one of\nthe screening methods for osteoporosis – at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre,\nset-up by PAF, which is available free of cost for females. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uber volunteers\nalso managed to contribute to Fatima Memorial Hospital in a way that would\ncreate significant impact for the organization. The Uber teams did some\nbrainstorming sessions with the hospital teams and provided recommendations to\nhelp the institution implement successful plans and campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lastly, Uber team\nvisited SOS Village and spent time while taking the children through creative\nthought-development games and activities, followed by an entertaining talent\nshow put on display by the children alongside Uber team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uber Pakistan has\norganized a number of activities to serve the community both organically\nthrough the platform, and through programs and philanthropy. Last year, Uber\npartnered with Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to empower women by\nhelping selected BISP beneficiaries to acquire driving skills and providing\nthem 100 rickshaws with minimal installments for repayment. Aiming to enable\nwomen to exit the poverty cycle through sustainable earning opportunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly, last\nyear, an awareness drive was conducted by driver partners in Lahore wherein\nthey distributed free smog kits to Uber riders, to give them some relief during\ntheir daily commute in the smog season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uber also teamed up with Kashf Foundation in a bid to educate driver\npartners on how to refrain from inappropriate behavior to recognize and prevent\nunsuitable actions. Titled \u2018Dignity at Work\u2019, this training was a part of\nUber\u2019s global initiative to help prevent harassment of any kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, Uber\u2019s\nPakistan-based executives can be seen volunteering for mentorship programs at\nthe National Incubation Center across Pakistan. Every year, the tech firm\norganizes a national startup competition giving an opportunity to aspiring tech\nstartup professionals to be guided by experienced trainers and eventually have\ntheir ideas judged by investors and mentors during the course of the\ncompetition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
