Facebook and Pakistan’s Ministry of\nInformation Technology along with the National Technology Fund (IGNITE)\nlaunched the first Facebook Innovation Lab located in the National Incubation\nCentre (NIC) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). The launch\nevent, held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, was attended by several thought\nleaders from across the world who came together and debated on issues such as\nwomen and technology; the impact that VR has on social good and impactful ways\nto harness technology for social good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Facebook Innovation Lab Pakistan is the\nfirst innovation lab launched by Facebook in Pakistan. It will focus on\nproviding infrastructure access to developers, entrepreneurs and community\ngroups enabling them to network, train and grow their expertise. It will also\nhelp developers build products and applications using emerging technology like\nVirtual Reality (VR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lab will give start-ups the infrastructure\nand the access they need to refine and scale their business models so they can\nsucceed in Pakistan and scale internationally. The Lab not only provides a\nshowcase of the latest technology, but participants will be matched with\nmentors, as well as connect with Facebook’s global and exclusive experts,\nindustry leaders, and specialists in product innovation, business growth, and\ndata protection. Participants will be able to access FbStart<\/a>,\na global programme designed to help start-ups build and grow their businesses.\nFinally, participants will be encouraged to connect and support other\ndevelopers and entrepreneurs through Developer Circles<\/a>, a community-driven programme for\ndeveloper collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Facebook\nInnovation Lab Pakistan also aims at encouraging South Asia\u2019s spirit of\nentrepreneurship and start-up growth. In addition, the Lab will also host\ninitiatives such as housing community events and workshops and providing\ntrainings for start-ups. A key feature of the Lab is that it welcomes start-ups\nand entrepreneurs based in Pakistan who would like to deep dive into the\nemerging technology space.
