Partnering with Ericsson, the overhaul of Jazz technology infrastructure\u2014hardware, functions, and systems \u2013 is well under way along with similar implementation in VEON Ltd.\u2019s (VEON) other operating companies. This is in line with the USD 1 billion, seven year, software partnership signed between VEON (then Vimpelcom), Jazz\u2019s parent company, and Ericsson to radically transform the international communications and technology company\u2019s IT infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Ericsson has used state-of-the-art network architecture to enable VEON\u2019s end-to-end digital transformation, which includes the management and operation of a new digital business support system. Called \u2018Digital Stack,\u2019 this new cloud-based technology will align VEON\u2019s back-office IT support functions across all of its operating companies, centralizing and globalizing them to conform to Group standards and industry best practices. Now all IT infrastructure present previously in VEON\u2019s operating markets will be moved to the Digital Stack.<\/p>\n
This latest development represents the mobile operator\u2019s approach to technology infrastructure, from investing in fragmented hardware to focusing on central software operations and cloud solutions that will enable real-time service improvement.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the Digital Stack will create and open up enhanced opportunities for VEON employees in all operating companies. This includes exchange of talent over the period of next one year, transfer of capabilities between the Ericsson and VEON teams, international expertise development and more. For this purpose, at this point in time Jazz has chosen close to 74 internal technical resources, who will be transferred to Ericsson, a move which allows them to gain technical expertise and enhance their capabilities by working with the world leader in communications technology and services.<\/p>\n
Under this overhaul of systems, Jazz continues its journey to transform itself in to a leaner, more agile tech company, in line with the reinventions taking place at VEON.
