The trend became visible around 2011 when services like Daraz, PakWheels, Rozee, and OLX starting investing heavily in marketing. It accelerated with the launch of fast 3G data services, and reached a tipping point last year when we saw online stores launching Black Friday (some were ‘White’) sales, which netted them millions of dollars in sales. In total, Pakistan’s eCommerce market is worth some $60 million, and is expected to reach $600 million by 2018, according to industry experts.

With the rise of ecommerce, Pakistani online shoppers are becoming spoiled for choice. The same product is usually available at at least a dozen other stores, and all offer different prices, warranties, shipping times, and payment methods. As people who like bargaining, and getting the best deal, it can be cumbersome to find the absolute best deal online. This is something that PriceOye.pk is solving. It is a price comparison service for Pakistan.

What is a price comparison service?

Price comparison services like PriceOye.pk allow you to, well, compare prices. For any item sold online which interests you, such services show a list of stores selling it. These price lists are often in ascending order, which means you can instantly tell which online store is offering the latest price for that particular item. The item could be a mobile phone, a laptop, tablet, home appliance, consumer electronics, fashion accessories or anything else that is sold by multiple online stores.

Price comparison services are different from price estimation services like HamariWeb which display estimated prices. These estimations are not nearly as accurate as the automatically updated price lists of price comparison services.

PriceOye.pk -price comparison for mobile phones

PriceOye.pk is not as comprehensive as some international price comparison services. The Pakistani service specifically targets mobile phones (which is arguably the most popular category by revenue) from a number of brands including popular ones like Apple ,Samsung ,Huawei, and lesser ones like Lenovo ,HTC ,LG ,Oppo , and QMobile.

Pretty much every mobile phone that is sold online will be found online on PriceOye.pk for price comparison. You can quickly search a particular phone, or browse them by brand. The homepage shows the latest mobile phones like iPhone 7 , but oddly also shows really old phones from BlackBerry. This is likely a bug in their software, though it is somewhat forgivable since they openly claim they are in ‘beta’ at the moment.

Once you’ve opened the page for a particular phone, you can see the price list near the top. As mentioned previously, these are listed in ascending order, so that the lowest price is on top. We spotted prices from popular stores like Telemart, Mega, iShopping, Daraz, and Shophive.Homeshopping.pk was noticeably absent, though.

In addition to price lists, you can also see hardware specs, and a historical price chart of each

phone, but that’s about it. Still, it is going to be useful for anyone who is passionate about smartphones, and regularly buys them online. For offline users, it can serve as a useful utility for ensuring your local mobile store is not fleecing you of your hard earned money.

PriceOye.pk is a pretty basic price comparison service, but at least it gets the fundamentals right. We’ve seen price differences between online stores range in Rs. 10,000, so there’s a decent chance you’ll save as much when you check the service before buying your next mobile phone.

Take a look at PriceOye.pk and let us know what you think

The growth of Pakistan’s startup and eCommerce ecosystem is heartening to see.
